Richard writes to Dr Paul McGreevey
Richard reports his progress to animal behaviourist Dr Paul McGreevey. At present he is trying to capture Fido "speaking", with no success.
Hi Kaye,
Here is the letter I wrote to Dr McGreevey.....the face of liver treats.
Cheers,
Richard
Dr Paul McGreevy,
Last time we spoke, at Equitana, I made inappropriate comments about my
relationship with the Science. I am recently retired from my roll as
dressage coach and have been off work since July with Ross River Fever.
Hidden Farm is becoming Hidden Farm Horse-play Ground.
We’ll have a web-based business based on the training of visitors to our
B&B.
The only prerequisite to training here is to read ‘Reaching the Animal Mind’
by Karen Pryor.
Really I am writing to tell you about an experience your liver had this
morning. I went off down the paddock with a ‘pocket full of liver’ and a
bright loud clicker and Fido (Fidelio) my 16 week old Skewbald Scrub Poodle.
We paddled in the creek and wandered about until an echidna turned up hell
bent on invading our most popular campsite. Fido gave voice most admirably
and was heartily clicked and rewarded.
I know he’s got a superb voice because I heard it the night I brought him
home. Imitations from Siamese cats to kookaburra and roosters crowing for 10
minutes beside my bed. Since then I’ve been waiting for him to make any
capturable peep. I’ve even done two harmonica training sessions. I though
it would be best if he was quietly on his mat. On the second session he went
to sleep.
I’m hoping our verbal awakening might get him yodling for me soon.
Thank you for your liver and please consider being the ‘Rewards Advisor’ at
Hidden Farm.
Cheers,
Richard
